Thailand – Bangkok – November 2 – 7, 2002

The first evening we went to see Thai Boxing, something we never would do back home, but here it is a major pastime.  This match was between two 17 year olds.

We shipped a whole lot home, and Bill wanted to join the stuff going back to the states by DHL.

Below:  The grand palace – this is the home of the famous Emerald Buddha – not really emerald, but rather jade, and from much earlier than the 15th century.  The grand palace was huge, and the decoration rather gaudy.

These cats were in Wat Pho – the largest and most heavily visited of all the wats in Bangkok.

We also spent some time at Wat Pho looking at the fantastic architecture and had a massage at the massage school there – the people in training were excellent – had iron fingers and we would go back for one every day if we could!  Price:  250 baht, or $6 for an hour.  Taxis were also very inexpensive – about $2 for most anywhere in the central city.
