Vietnam – to Ho Chi Minh City  November 26, 2002

We arrived in Ho Chi Minh City (otherwise known as Saigon) in the early afternoon and immediately decided to go to the Australian-built water park.   .

While you wouldn’t want to drink the water, the place was very clean and almost empty of people, since it was a weekday afternoon and all the kids were in school.

Saigon actually refers to the center section of town in HoChiMinhCity (HCMC) but Saigon is used interchangably.  The city of 5 million people has about 3 million motorbikes in it, so the traffic is incredibly tough.  Our first thought with our arrival at our hotel, which was on the Saigon River bank, was that this is a bustling, thriving city, certainly the most vibrant and growing of any that we visited, including Bangkok. Not enough infrastructure, though….
