Bhutan – Thimphu and Paro – November 1 and 2, 2002

 

 

Back in the Capital Timphu once again, we thought that a photo of the policeman directing traffic was appropriate.  One of two kiosks like this in the entire country..

 



And this is a photo that Bill took of a house covered with large phallic symbols – yes, they are everywhere in the country – considered to be good luck and bring prosperity.  Can’t say it would be well received in Salem or Marblehead!.

Timphu was the last stop on our journey – a great folk museum, the national library for books and their conservation, and then to Paro for the afternoon, where we say the National Museum. A wonderful sunset over the valley, and the next morning we were off to Thailand.
