Prayer flags are everywhere - the main manifestation of Bhudism is visible in every corner of this country
We spent the next night in a guest house in Phobjica, a town made famous by the Black Necked Cranes. These cranes summer in Tibet and winter in Phobjica, and the festival occurs in early November when the entire group arrives in Phobjica on the same day/

LThe entire student body of the Primary School in Phobjica is 560, and they welcomed Bill into their classes. They go to school in uniform from March thru November, and have December, January and February off. The town has no electricity, but is scheduled to be on the grid for both elctricity and phone within the next three years. In the meantime, solar panels will have to suffice.

We drove over a high pass, and several hours later arrived in Phobjica at the Guest House. Many houses have been built for the tourist industry since 1990, and the valley has grown in poulation by 50%. The school teachers are all here from other places, and must stay here about 4 years before moving on to another assignment. All teacher assignements are made by the govenment. The school had some great kids, 36 to 52 per class, and classes Monday thru Friday 8:30am to 4 pm and Saturday from 8:30am to noon.
